This truth was revealed to me in Colossians 3:
Therefore, treat the parts of your earthly body as dead to sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. For it is because of THESE THINGS that the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, and in THEM you also once walked, WHEN you were LIVING IN THEM. —Col 3:5-7
SONS OF DISOBEDIENCE are NOT people…
They are something we once WALKED IN & LIVED IN!
the ‘sons of disobedience’ were listed in verse 5:
..sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, & greed, which is idolatry
The SONS of DISOBEDIENCE’ are these manifestations of obedience to SIN. They are compared to sons in that they are ‘birthed’ by sin, which is not accepting the image of God.
Obedience (which just means listening to & believing) – to that distorted image of who God is and who we are.
We walked in & lived in it, but now can walk FREE:
God’s ‘wrath’ from heaven, His anger & punishment was always on UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, which is SIN
NOT on mankind.
Jesus destroyed that image & we are free! We just need to perceive it & believe this:
We are the righteousness of God in Christ.
We are His image.
(FYI – ‘sexual immortality’ is not your sex life – it is God’s way of saying that we’re cheating on Him – it means to have other ‘gods’, thoughts from sin that rule us)
